The Effectiveness of ReCODE in Treating Alzheimer’s Disease
Reason: For many decades, Alzheimer’s Disease has been assumed to be a fatal disease with inevitable decline in memory and cognition until the patient’s death. However, Dr. Bredesen claimed to have discovered a way to prevent and reverse Alzheimer’s disease, with a protocol of interventions that he termed “ReCODE”. He explains the interventions in ReCODE in detail in 2 books: The End of Alzheimer’s and The End of Alzheimer’s Program. We would like to try to assess the effectiveness of ReCODE by quantifying the feedback from readers who have tried the protocol.
Hypothesis: The ReCODE protocol is effective in preventing and reversing Alzheimer’s disease.
Null Hypothesis: People with cognitive decline who tried the ReCODE protocol showed no improvement in their symptoms.
Procedure:
1. Collect all reviews of the 2 books on Amazon.com.
2. Read through all the reviews and keep only those that report on the effectiveness of the ReCODE protocol by subjects who had followed the protocol for an extended period.
3. The reviews are subjectively judged for apparent truthfulness with supporting descriptions of changes to symptoms. Only those reviews judged to be truthful are maintained in the data pool.
4. Each review is scored by multiple researchers to quantify the effectiveness of the ReCODE protocol in the subject: 1. Significant deterioration of symptoms; 2. Mild deterioration of symptoms; 3. No change; 4. Mild improvement of symptoms; 5. Significant improvement of symptoms.
5. The scores for each review are averaged among the scores of all the researchers
6. Statistical analyses are performed to quantify the effectiveness of the ReCODE protocol
After this research project, we will progress to cognitive measurements of real human subjects on the ReCODE protocol.
